Is it possible to add computers into Immybot by entering the Serial number manually, before installing the agent?
I was hoping to be able to add computers into Immybot then assign the required Tags before hand to help cut down on the number of times agents need to touch the setup.
No, unfortunately. However, something I’ve done in the past is inject the ppkg installer into the install.wim file of a Windows installer ISO. Then I passed that ISO along to our vendor for them to image the computers with before they even get shipped.
Just be aware of potential driver issues if you do this, since the default Windows installer ISO has very limited drivers and may refuse to be installed on certain hardware until the correct driver is injected.
I may have used the wrong terminology.
We have a base setup for a company, then add additional software using tags based on the department the computer is being deployed too. The current process is to image the computer, onboard it with ImmyBot with the default setup for the company, then add the Tag after onboarding is done to push out the additional software. Having to manage different USB sticks for each department is a huge hassle. This requires at least 2 touches to the computer before it’s completed, 1 for the initial onboarding and 1 to tag it. Since onsite techs are dealing with it, they may not be back in front of the computer for an hour or 2 to then tag the computer to install the rest of the software.
What i was hoping to do is, If we was able to get the inventory list of the devices by Serial Number, we would input them all in at once in Immybot, tag and assign them accordingly then build them. This way it will know what additional stuff to push out before onboarding and not after. There would be no need to juggle different version of the Immybot installer, and allow the onsite techs to “set it and forget it”.
